VILLAGE OF NDIOB - SENEGAL
Pilot project for local electrification in Senegal
Our one-year project (1 January – 31 December 2022) aims to pilot a participatory governance framework for local electrification in Senegal. Our approach centres on multi-stakeholder groups (MSGs) at three levels which we will accompany with technical advice and secretarial services to ensure regular and sustainable dialogue and problem-solving. In 2-3 pilot villages local MSGs will ensure that their micro-grid installation meets community needs.
They will flag legal and governance obstacles to a national MSG in Dakar, which will focus on improving the regulatory and policy framework in Senegal. An international Advisory Group will draw on the Senegal experience to develop an international governance framework for rural electrification, to prepare for a scaled expansion of LEAP across Africa after the pilot.
